The Bolsa Chica Pro app is the best way to discover the Bolsa Chica Reserve in Huntington Beach, California. It has many interactive features and allows users to mark the location of animals or habitat sightings. It is a joint project of California Resources Corporation, Amigos de Bolsa Chica, Bolsa Chica Conservancy, Bolsa Chica Land Trust, and California Fish and Wildlife.

The app contains all known species, special events, and volunteer opportunities for users. You can even track your calorie reduction while walking or jogging. To save battery supply you must be on site at Bolsa Chica when using the Walk Run feature.

Key Features
History - describes the history of the Bolsa Chica from 10,000 BC to the present day. Slide the screen to the left to go through its history.

Identify - helps users find the specific vegetation and creatures that reside at the Bolsa Chica. The Identify section includes all Bolsa Chica birds, plants, mammals, fish, reptiles and marine invertebrates that inhabit the reserve.

Tour - shows all the "way stations" and their descriptions. See a map and follow your progress. Tap and hold your finger on the map to drop a pin where you see something you want to know more about. A complete list pops up and lets you find and mark the specific inhabitant as a sighting. Hold you finger down on the sighting icon to remove it. Remember to check out the Augmented Realty feature listed at the bottom of way station M9 and M13. These 3D images show an example of the big guns used to protect the coast in WWII and a former clubhouse for local gun enthusiasts. Rotate the objects 360 degrees.

Photos - can be taken and saved in your journal. You can also share your findings with the Bolsa Chica community through social media.

Calls - play brief audio clips of songs and calls of many shorebirds and waterfowl at Bolsa Chica. These are recordings provided by Sylvia R. Gallagher and the Sea and Sage Audubon Society.
